Navigators
Parenting is hard, parenting with cancer and other serious illnesses is harder.
- Navigators aims to provide resources that enable parents and carers the confidence to talk to their children about their cancer or serious illness and help them support their children’s emotional wellbeing needs.
- To provide evidence based Fruitfly kits which allow conversations about feelings, to have a better understanding of how your children are feeling. Kits help feeling more empowered to have talking points to find ways to communicate about the illness and its implications.
- Navigators is for Parents or carers with a diagnosis of cancer or other profoundly serious illnesses can refer for practical evidence-based support. Practice strategies of communication including and explaining their circumstances to their children and families. The support expands depending on the person’s needs. We use the Fruitfly Kits, and other evidence-based best practice resources.
What do we do?
We offer a “Parenting toolshed” of resources and guided self-help
We provide practical tool kits called Fruitfly Kits, on how to tell our children about your diagnosis and what the future may hold.
We help parents and carers with building and supporting healthy relationships with their children.
We support you on how to talk with your children and family about your diagnosis and the potential impacts of this on everyone.
Managing change and dealing with uncertainty, as a family.
